Competition has officially begun for Team Ghana at the Glasgow 2026 Commonwealth Games, with four athletes taking to the international stage today in pursuit of national glory. The opening day brings action across two disciplines, setting the tone for what promises to be an eventful campaign for Team Ghana.
The morning session belongs to the pool, where swimmers Abeiku Jackson and Nubia Adjei will carry Ghana’s colours into the pool. Jackson is set to contest the men’s 50m backstroke, while Adjei takes on the women’s 50m butterfly, both aiming to deliver strong showings as they open their campaigns on the biggest stage of the Commonwealth calendar.
As the evening session gets underway, attention turns to the boxing ring, where Ghana’s pugilists will begin their pursuit of podium finishes. Abdul Wahid Omar enters the 65kg category, while Tahiru Haruna competes in the para powerlifting +110kg division, both looking to open their respective campaigns with determination and pride, and to set an early marker for the rest of Team Ghana’s contingent in Glasgow.
