“We Are Still Champions!” – Ndiaye Stands Firm as Everton Humble Chelsea

Iliman Ndiaye delivered both brilliance and defiance as Everton stunned Chelsea 3-0 in a commanding display at the Hill Dickinson Stadium in Liverpool.

On a night where Everton’s attacking intent overwhelmed their visitors, it was Ndiaye who put the finishing touch on a memorable performance. After Beto had already struck twice to give the hosts a firm grip on the contest, Ndiaye sealed the victory in style—curling a sublime effort beyond Robert Sánchez, who could do very little as the ball nestled into the net.

But beyond the goals and the result, it was Ndiaye’s post-match declaration that captured attention.

“We are champions of Africa!” he proclaimed with conviction.

The statement comes in the wake of recent controversy surrounding the Africa Cup of Nations. Despite Confederation of African Football Appeals Board ruling to overturn Senegal’s triumph and award the title to Morocco, Ndiaye remains unwavering in his belief.

For him—and clearly for many within the Senegal camp—the sense of achievement has not been erased by administrative decisions.

His stance was echoed in animated fashion by teammate Idrissa Gana Gueye, who reinforced the message with a symbolic gesture—raising two fingers to signify what he and Ndiaye insist are Senegal’s two AFCON titles.

As the debate continues off the field, Ndiaye’s performance and words served as a powerful reminder: for those who lived it, lifted it, and celebrated it, some titles can’t simply be taken away.
