Worrying Trend at the Accra Sports Stadium as Hearts Switch Home Venue

Officials of Hearts of Oak may have the perception that their poor home form in the Ghana Premier League is tied to playing at the Accra Sports Stadium, and in response, have decided to switch to the University of Ghana Stadium in Legon for subsequent home games.

The Phobians have managed just one win in five home matches this season, drawing three and losing once, a worrying return for a club with title ambitions. It is this lack of home victories that has ultimately prompted the decision to move away from the nation’s premier football arena.

Interestingly, Hearts have picked up the majority of their points on the road, winning three and drawing three without a single defeat, a sharp contrast to their struggles in Accra.

Their matchday 12 encounter against Vision FC will mark their first home game at the University of Ghana Stadium this season, a venue that already houses Eleven Wonders. The setting is not an unfamiliar territory for Hearts; during the 2024/25 campaign, they played most of their home fixtures there and enjoyed a fair amount of success.

Club officials and fans hope that returning to Legon will help rediscover that spark and propel the Phobians into a strong title challenge, a crown they have not lifted since 2021.

With the switch now confirmed, fans will be eager to see whether a change in environment can translate into a change in fortune.
