The National Sports Authority (NSA) has inaugurated a five-member Resource Mobilisation and Partnership Committee to strengthen funding and strategic partnerships for Ghana’s sports sector.
Samson Deen, President of the Ghana National Paralympic Committee and President of the African Paralympic Committee, formally accepted the Government’s mandate on behalf of the newly constituted Resource Mobilization and Partnership Committee, describing the appointment as a direct call to deliver measurable outcomes for the sport.
Speaking on behalf of the committee, Deen confirmed that all members had accepted the responsibility entrusted to them by Government. He stressed that the Committee understood the weight of the assignment from the outset, noting that it had been made clear during earlier proceedings that the role carried no ceremonial function.
It is a call to action and a responsibility to produce measurable results for Ghanaian sport.”
Deen said the expectation of accountability had been reinforced repeatedly in the lead-up to the Committee’s inauguration, including in direct exchanges with officials overseeing the process.
He recounted that when he offered to have a colleague, identified only as Ms. Terry, assist with an assignment given, he was told firmly that the task required his personal attention, a reminder, he said, that the Committee’s leadership would be expected to answer directly for its results.
He added that questions about the state of existing sports infrastructure had already been raised at the highest levels, including an inquiry into the condition of sports centres. Deen said he had personally sought clarification from technical officials on the matter, underscoring the Committee’s early recognition that rehabilitation and maintenance of facilities would form a central part of its brief.

1. Mobilize both financial and non-financial resources for Ghanaian sport
2. Establish credible local and international partnerships
3. Create sustainable avenues of support for athletes and federations
4. Drive rehabilitation and sustainable management of sports infrastructure
5. Engage corporate Ghana, development institutions, diplomatic missions, international sports bodies, communities, and the media
Outlining the Committee’s approach, Deen said its work would be guided by inclusiveness and accountability, with engagement extended across corporate Ghana, development institutions, diplomatic missions, international sports organisations, local communities, and the media.
Every serious partnership must have clear objectives, transparent governance, and measurable deliverables.”
Deen closed his remarks by expressing hope that the Committee would be able to answer, in due course, the questions being asked of it, a standard he said the team had set for itself as it begins the work of resourcing and rebuilding sport for persons with disabilities and the wider sporting community.
