“Joining Kotoko is a big moment for me” – Prince Badu after signing for Kotoko
Asante Kotoko SC have officially confirmed the signing of highly-rated defensive midfielder Prince Badu from Nations FC, with the player penning a three-year contract after successfully passing his medical.
Badu arrives at Adako Jachie as part of Kotoko’s ongoing efforts to strengthen their squad for the remainder of the season and beyond. The industrious midfielder has been a model of consistency at Nations FC over the last two-and-a-half seasons, racking up close to 50 Ghana Premier League appearances and earning a reputation for his discipline, tactical awareness and work rate in the middle of the park.
His arrival is expected to bring much-needed balance and depth to Kotoko’s midfield, particularly in the holding role, as the Porcupine Warriors look to maintain intensity across a demanding campaign.
Head Coach Abdul Karim Zito explained the club’s decision to move for the former Nations FC man, stressing the importance of reinforcing a key area of the team.
“We felt it was very important to strengthen the defensive midfield area,” Zito said. “At the moment, we have only one natural defensive midfielder, and we also have to carefully manage the minutes of Lawson Manu, who is still a young player. Prince gives us the balance we need. He understands the league, he’s tactically disciplined, and he will help us maintain intensity and stability in midfield over the remainder of the season and the next few years.”
For Badu, the move represents a major step forward in his career. Speaking after completing the transfer, the midfielder expressed his excitement and readiness to embrace the challenge at one of Ghana’s most decorated clubs.
“Joining Kotoko is a big moment for me. This is the biggest club in the country, and I’m grateful for the opportunity,” he said. “I know the expectations are high here, but that’s what motivates me as a player. I’m ready to work hard, learn, and give my best whenever I’m called upon. I want to help the team in any way I can and grow with the club over the next few years.”
Prince Badu will don the number 44 jersey as he begins his journey with the Porcupine Warriors, with fans eager to see how quickly he can settle into life at Kumasi and make his mark in Kotoko colours.
