Semenyo: Ghana Will Light Up the World Cup with Culture

Antoine Semenyo has given the world a glimpse of what to expect from the Black Stars at the 2026 FIFA World Cup, promising colour, culture and an unbreakable bond between the team and supporters as the global showpiece heads to the United States, Canada and Mexico.

Speaking to CBS Sports, the Ghana forward highlighted the unique spirit that defines the Black Stars and their fans, insisting Ghana will arrive “in big bunches” if they make it to the tournament.

“We’re going to come in big bunches, I’ll tell you that,” Semenyo said. “In big tournaments like this, we want to show our culture, and we want to show we’re different from other nations—whether it’s dances, whether it’s singing, or just supporting the crowds… yeah, it’s just endless.”

Ghana are preparing for their fifth appearance at the FIFA World Cup, having previously featured at Germany 2006, South Africa 2010, Brazil 2014 and most recently Qatar 2022.

For Semenyo, the 2026 tournament would mark his second World Cup outing after making his debut on the world’s biggest stage in Qatar.

The 26-year-old believes the deep connection between football and everyday life in Ghana gives the national team a special edge, especially when backed by the famous Ghanaian support both at home and abroad.

“I think Ghana runs through so many people’s veins back home, and… yeah, we just love football,” he added. “So, the World Cup’s going to be… it’s going to be amazing. Hopefully, God willing, we do well.”

With the 2026 World Cup set to be hosted across the United States, Canada and Mexico, anticipation continues to build among players and fans.

For Semenyo, the thought of performing in America adds another layer of excitement.

“Yeah, looking forward to playing in America,” he said.
