FIFA Partners BoP to Rebuild Gaza

FIFA has announced a landmark partnership with the Board of Peace (BoP), an initiative established by Donald Trump, to support the reconstruction of Gaza through football-driven development.

The global football governing body confirmed that the ambitious programme will be rolled out in four strategic phases once security conditions permit implementation on the ground.

A Four-Phase Recovery Plan

The initiative is designed to restore hope, create opportunities for young people, and rebuild community life through sport.

Phase I (3–6 months) will see the construction of 50 FIFA Arena mini-pitches. These small-sided facilities are part of FIFA’s grassroots football strategy aimed at providing safe, accessible spaces for children and young people to play.

Mini-pitches are widely used in disadvantaged and post-conflict communities to quickly reintroduce structured sporting activities.

Phase II (within 12 months) will deliver five full-size football pitches, laying the foundation for competitive football to return to Gaza.

These standard pitches are expected to host local leagues, youth tournaments, and community competitions, helping to re-establish organised football structures.

Phase III (18–36 months) focuses on long-term development with the establishment of a modern FIFA Academy. The academy will serve as a high-performance and educational centre for talented young players, combining elite football training with academic education and life-skills programmes.

The final stage, Phase IV (18–36 months), includes the construction of a 20,000-seat National Stadium. The stadium is envisioned as a symbol of renewal and unity, capable of hosting domestic competitions and potentially international fixtures in the future.

Football as a Tool for Peace and Recovery

FIFA has consistently positioned football as a vehicle for social change and peacebuilding. Through infrastructure investments and youth empowerment initiatives across different regions, the organisation has demonstrated how sport can contribute to community rebuilding.

By partnering with the Board of Peace, FIFA aims to leverage football’s global appeal to support Gaza’s broader reconstruction efforts.

Beyond infrastructure, the project is expected to generate employment opportunities, provide psychosocial support for young people affected by conflict, and strengthen community cohesion.

FIFA emphasized that implementation will commence “as soon as security conditions allow,” highlighting the importance of stability for the project’s success.
