The Ghana Taekwondo Federation (GTF) has unveiled an ambitious plan to integrate the sport into school curricula, following its 2025 General Assembly and Stakeholders Forum in Kumasi.
Delegates from all ten regions convened at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium to chart a new development course.
A key outcome was a proposed action plan to make Taekwondo a staple in both public and private schools.
The Forum, themed “Promoting Taekwondo as a Preparatory Activity for School Children and a Competitive Sport,” brought together the Ghana Olympic Committee (GOC), National Sports Authority (NSA), Ghana Education Service (GES), and the Ghana National Council of Private Schools (GNACOPS).

To kickstart this initiative, a committee will be formed to collaborate with GNACOPS, introducing training programs in private schools. This will be followed by a dedicated Taekwondo competition for private schools.
Ghana Taekwondo Federation President Frederick Lartey Otu also highlighted the federation’s past successes, including medals won at the 2023 African Games in Accra. Other key decisions included plans to update the GTF Constitution and a slate of new national and international programs for the coming year.
