Tottenham Hotspur brought an end to a deeply troubling run of results on Saturday, claiming a narrow 1-0 victory over bottom of the table Wolverhampton Wanderers to register what was, remarkably, their first win across sixteen Matches in 2026.

The solitary goal arrived in the 82nd minute, when Portuguese midfielder Joao Palhinha converted at close range following a blocked effort from Brazilian forward Richarlison.

Spurs faithful may celebrate the victory, but results elsewhere could quickly dampen the mood. West Ham United defeated Everton 2-1, courtesy of a 92nd-minute header from Callum Wilson, a goal that arrived just four minutes after Everton levelled the scoreline.

That late twist meant Tottenham’s victory, for all its significance in ending their win drought, did nothing to alter their standing in the league table.

The club remain 18th, inside the relegation zone and two points adrift of West Ham in 17th place.

Nottingham Forest, who entered the weekend in 16th position, moved five points clear of Tottenham after thumping newly promoted side Sunderland 5-0 in Friday evening’s game. That emphatic result all but moved Forest from the dangers of the relegation conversation.
