Sawe Shatters Marathon Record with First Official Sub-2 Hour Run

Sabastian Sawe has rewritten the limits of human endurance, becoming the first athlete to break the two-hour barrier in an official marathon, storming to a historic time of 1:59:30 in a performance that will redefine the sport at the London Marathon.

In a race that delivered unprecedented speed from start to finish, Sawe’s landmark run headlines a stunning day for distance running, where the long-standing psychological and physical barrier of two hours was not just challenged but decisively broken.

Hot on his heels, Yomif Kejelcha produced a sensational marathon debut, clocking 1:59:41 to also dip under the two-hour mark. The Ethiopian star, previously known for his exploits on the track, proved his seamless transition to the marathon with one of the fastest debuts in history.

Meanwhile, Jacob Kiplimo further underlined the extraordinary nature of the race, finishing in 2:00:28, also faster than the previous world record.

The race marks a turning point in marathon running, with three athletes delivering times once thought unattainable under official race conditions.

What was once considered a near-impossible feat has now been emphatically achieved, signaling a new era where the boundaries of endurance continue to be pushed further than ever before.
