The Wisdom Boxing Club, in collaboration with Outboxed, successfully staged the Accra Box Cup 2026 over the weekend at Jamestown, Accra, delivering an exciting showcase of amateur boxing talent and reaffirming the depth of Ghana’s next generation of Boxers.

Held across Saturday and Sunday, the competition brought together several young boxers from different gyms across the capital, all eager to box and demonstrate their progress in the ring.

The event served as an important platform for aspiring champions to display their boxing skills, stamina, strength, technique, and ring intelligence.

One of the standout performers of the competition was sensational youngster Prince “The Buzz” Larbie, who fought his way to the final and was widely adjudged as one of the best performers of the tournament. Representing Will Power Boxing Club, Larbie impressed fans with his power, composure, and sharp technique, eventually overpowering Jeffrey Sowah of Wisdom Boxing Club.

In the female division, Lydia Martey of Bukom Boxing Gym battled to an entertaining draw with her club mate Blessing Lartey in a thrilling contest.

Another closely contested draw saw Simon Ayikwei of Black Panthers share honours with Vida Tackie of Seconds Out in the 20–23kg weight class.

Several other bouts produced intense competition across multiple weight divisions. In the 23–26kg category, Philip Owusu of Fit Square lost narrowly by a 1-2 decision to Jason Cobblah. Ismeal Quartey of Wisdom Boxing Club secured a 2-1 victory over Elliot Ayi Bontey, also of Wisdom, in the 29–32kg division.

Godfred Coffie defeated Kelvin Hammond by a 2-1 decision in the 32–35kg category, while Philemon Lomotey of Wisdom earned a similar 2-1 victory over Dennis Nettey of Black Panthers in the 35–38kg division.

Joshua Martey of Fit Square also recorded victory over Joseph Ocquaye of Brehum in the 38–41kg category, while Samuel Achempong of Brehum edged Kingsley Asare of Attoh Quarshie by a 2-1 decision in the 41–44kg division.

In the 44–47kg category, Kelvin Annan of Attoh Quarshie defeated Michael Aryeetey of CC by a 2-1 scoreline. Charles Quartey of Attoh Quarshie was also declared winner by walkover over Mohammed Clottey of Black Panthers in the 26–29kg division.

The tournament was officially sanctioned by the Greater Accra Amateur Boxing Association and the Ghana Boxing Federation, adding further credibility and competitive value to the event.

With the success of this year’s edition, the Accra Box Cup continues to establish itself as an important development platform for young boxers and a valuable stepping stone for future national and international champions.
