Ghana’s swimming team captain Abeiku Jackson has been Elected Vice Chair of Africa Aquatics Athletes Commission

He is the first Ghanaian swimmer ever to hold a position on the continental body.  The commission, which will serve a four-year term, is chaired by Marc Pascal Pierre Dansou of Benin, with Holyantsa Rabejaona of Madagascar as Secretary.Its mandate is to represent athletes’ interests and ensure their voices are heard in sport’s governance.

This election caps a period of outstanding achievement for Jackson. The Team Ghana captain recently led by example at the Africa Aquatics Zone 2 Championships in Accra, winning five medals, including four gold, as Ghana amassed a total of 69 medals. A two-time Olympian, Jackson also famously ended Ghana’s long medal drought in swimming at the 2023 African Games.
