Real Madrid have secured the signing of Spanish defender Marc Cucurella from Chelsea, ending the left-back’s four-year spell in England.

The Spanish giants announced that Cucurella has signed a contract until June 2032 after both clubs reached an agreement over his transfer.

In a statement, Real Madrid confirmed “Real Madrid C. F. and Chelsea FC have reached an agreement for the transfer of the player Marc Cucurella, who will be linked to our club for the next six seasons, until June 30, 2032.”

The 27-year-old joined Chelsea from Brighton & Hove Albion in 2022 and went on to become a regular member of the squad despite facing challenges during his early months at Stamford Bridge.

During his time in London, Cucurella made 116 appearances across all competitions, scoring eight goals and registering ten assists.

He also helped Chelsea win the UEFA Europa Conference League and the FIFA Club World Cup, adding silverware to his growing list of achievements.

Chelsea paid tribute to the defender following his departure, thanking him for his contribution to the club’s recent successes and wishing him well for the future.

On the international stage, Cucurella has remained an important figure for Spain and was part of the squad that lifted the UEFA European Championship title in 2024.

The former Barcelona academy product is currently with the Spanish national team at the 2026 FIFA World Cup and is expected to feature in Spain’s opening match against tournament newcomers Cape Verde.

His move to Real Madrid marks one of the biggest transfers of his career and offers him the opportunity to compete for major honours in Spain and Europe over the coming years.
