Kurt Edwin Simeon-Okraku, President of the Ghana Football Association (GFA), has been officially named the Second Vice-President of the Confederation of African Football (CAF), marking a major leadership breakthrough for West Africa.
His appointment was confirmed during a significant CAF Executive Committee meeting at the Kempinski Hotel in Accra, emphasizing a growing commitment to regional diversity and inclusivity in African football leadership.
Okraku’s promotion is historic, as he becomes the first West African Anglophone to hold such a high-ranking position within CAF under the presidency of Patrice Motsepe.
Beyond its symbolic value, Okraku’s new role highlights his impactful leadership in Ghana, where he has driven key reforms to rejuvenate local football — including professionalizing the leagues, strengthening grassroots programs, and advancing transparency and accountability.
He now follows in the footsteps of Kwesi Nyantakyi, becoming the second Ghanaian to serve as a CAF Vice-President.
