This Saturday’s Casablanca derby between Raja Club Athletic and Wydad AC in Morocco’s Botola Pro will be a major moment in African football history.

It is not just another match in their fierce rivalry it will also be the first time a referee body camera is used in a professional football game in Africa.

For the first time on African soil, a referee body camera will be worn in a professional football match.

The referee will wear a body camera during the match to show what the official sees on the pitch.

This is a new step to make officiating more transparent and puts Moroccan football among the leaders in using new technology in Africa.

The timing is very appropriate. The Casablanca derby between Raja Club Athletic and Wydad AC is one of the biggest matches in Moroccan football. It is always highly watched, both in stadiums and on TV, and is known for strong rivalry and sometimes controversy.

A Club Dressed for History

Wydad AC are marking their 89th anniversary with a special Kappa kit that celebrates their history and identity.

The jersey has a vintage design, including an old-style club crest that reflects their traditional look. It was made with Kappa to honour the club’s long journey.

Founded in 1937, Wydad are one of Africa’s biggest clubs, with many league titles and CAF Champions League trophies.
