Cagliari Rally Around Yael Trepy After Young Forward’s Intensive Care Hospitalization

Cagliari forward Yael Trepy has been admitted to intensive care at the Santissima Annunziata Civil Hospital in Sassari following a serious incident in Sardinia, with the Italian club closely monitoring the condition of the promising young attacker.

The 20-year-old French striker was reportedly involved in a swimming pool incident during his time off after helping Cagliari advance in the Coppa Italia. Italian media reports indicate that Trepy was rescued after experiencing difficulties in the pool and was transported to hospital by helicopter.

Cagliari confirmed the player’s hospitalisation in an official statement, but the club did not reveal specific details about the incident or his medical condition. The focus has remained on supporting Trepy and his family while allowing medical staff to provide the necessary treatment.

“Cagliari Calcio announces that player Yael Trepy is currently receiving treatment at the Santissima Annunziata Civil Hospital in Sassari, where he is in intensive care,” the club said.

“The Club remains in constant contact with the medical staff and with the player’s family, and is closely monitoring the development of his condition.”

The club added that everyone at Cagliari is thinking of Trepy and his family during the difficult moment, while requesting that their privacy is respected. Cagliari also said further updates would be provided when more information becomes available.

Reports from Italy suggest the incident occurred in Porto Cervo, on the Costa Smeralda, while Trepy was enjoying a short break after Cagliari’s Coppa Italia victory over Arezzo. The forward had featured in the match, starting and playing 54 minutes as his team secured a 1-0 win.

Trepy’s hospitalisation comes at a time when he was beginning to establish himself in Cagliari’s first-team plans. The French forward broke into senior football last season and made an immediate impact by scoring on his Serie A debut against Cremonese after coming off the bench.

The young attacker joined Cagliari’s youth setup after beginning his career in France with US Créteil-Lusitanos. He progressed through the club’s academy ranks before earning opportunities with the senior side, where he has recorded appearances in Italy’s top flight.

Cagliari had been preparing for the start of the new Serie A campaign, with Trepy expected to continue his development after a breakthrough season. However, football matters have now been placed aside as attention remains on his recovery and wellbeing.

The club, teammates and supporters are united in their support for Trepy as he receives treatment. With medical staff continuing to monitor his condition, Cagliari has urged patience and respect for the player and his family while awaiting further updates.
