Djokovic Plans Balanced Final Chapter Ahead of Olympic Goal
Novak Djokovic has revealed he is reducing his tennis schedule as he seeks a better balance between his professional career and family life, while still targeting a final appearance at the Olympics before retirement.
The 24-time Grand Slam champion admitted he is no longer competing as frequently as he did during the peak years of his career, choosing instead to dedicate more time to his responsibilities away from tennis.
“I’m not playing, competing in many tournaments nowadays, not even close as much as I did for 20 years,” Djokovic said. “And I choose to do that because I also would like to spend more time with my family.”
The Serbian star added that tennis remains central to his professional life but believes his revised schedule allows him to focus on other important areas.
“Tennis, of course, remains still the centre of my professional life. But I also like to find a balance and that’s why I have a revised schedule,” he explained.

Djokovic’s decision comes after a historic career that has seen him win a record 24 Grand Slam singles titles, including 10 Australian Open trophies, seven Wimbledon crowns, four US Open titles and three French Open championships.
Beyond the majors, he has also won a record 40 ATP Masters 1000 titles and completed the Career Golden Masters, further cementing his status as one of tennis’ greatest players.
Despite reducing his commitments, Djokovic remains motivated to compete at the highest level and hopes to end his career representing Serbia at the Olympic Games.
“I still hope that I can push all the way through to the Olympics and be able to finish my career in that way, with a Serbian flag on my shoulders,” he said.
Having achieved Olympic gold at Paris 2024 and conquered nearly every major milestone in tennis, Djokovic’s focus now appears to be on managing the final stage of his career while creating lasting memories beyond the court.
