Manchester United have reached a full agreement with Italian Serie A side Atalanta for the transfer of Brazilian midfielder Ederson, in a deal understood to be structured around a fixed fee of €40.5 million with an additional €4.5 million in achievable performance-related bonuses bringing the total potential outlay to €45 million.
The 26-year-old has emerged as a priority target for United’s midfield reconstruction project, and the club’s hierarchy moved decisively to conclude negotiations with Atalanta. Personal terms have been agreed, with the player set to commit to a four-year deal at Old Trafford, inclusive of an optional additional year at the club’s discretion.
On 6 July 2022, the Brazilian signed for Atalanta from fellow Italian side Salernitana, a transfer that, in retrospect, proved transformative for both club and player.
Over three full seasons with Atalanta, Ederson accumulated more than 150 appearances across all competitions.
His ability to operate in multiple midfield roles provided Atalanta with considerable tactical flexibility, and it is precisely those qualities that United believe will serve them well in the seasons ahead.
