GFA Fixes Date in August for this Year’s Ordinary Congress

The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has confirmed that its 32nd Ordinary Congress will be staged on August 20, 2026, with delegates expected to converge on the Ghanaman Soccer Centre of Excellence in Prampram for the body’s most important annual statutory gathering.

The meeting, which forms a crucial part of the Association’s governance framework, is expected to bring together representatives from clubs, regional football associations, football administrators, technical experts, and other stakeholders to discuss matters affecting the development and administration of the sport in Ghana.

In a statement announcing the date, the GFA said the Congress had been scheduled in accordance with its regulations, noting that the gathering would take place in line with Article 31(2) of its Statutes.”

The Congress is expected to provide an opportunity for members to review the performance of the Association over the past year while also considering plans and priorities for the next football season.

Key issues surrounding domestic competitions, football development projects, governance structures, and strategic initiatives are anticipated to feature prominently during discussions. The event will also serve as a forum for assessing the progress made across various sectors of Ghana football and identifying areas that require greater attention.

According to the Association, the annual gathering represents “a major platform for reflection, planning, and decision-making ahead of the new football season,” underlining its significance in shaping policies and programmes for the future.

Ahead of the Congress, members have already been formally informed about the date to allow sufficient time for preparations. The GFA indicated that additional documentation will be distributed in the weeks leading up to the event to facilitate informed discussions among delegates.

A formal convocation containing the agenda, activity reports, financial statements, and auditors’ report will be circulated prior to the Congress,” the statement said.

The meeting is also expected to strengthen engagement between the Association’s leadership and the wider football community.

Delegates will have the opportunity to interact directly with the Executive Council on issues affecting the game, ranging from competition management and infrastructure to talent development and administrative reforms.

The GFA stressed that the Congress would provide room for meaningful dialogue among stakeholders as the sport continues to evolve in the country.

The Association noted that the full-day session would create an avenue “for the Executive Council to engage with club representatives, Technical officials, and stakeholders to review progress made and address key challenges affecting the sport.”

With preparations now underway, the football governing body has urged all participants to approach the gathering with diligence and a commitment to productive engagement.

The GFA has encouraged all delegates to prepare adequately for the productive engagements and Congress, as the Association continues its efforts to strengthen and develop football across all levels in Ghana.

As one of the most important events on the domestic football calendar, the 32nd Ordinary Congress is expected to influence major decisions that will shape the administration and growth of Ghana football in the years ahead. Stakeholders will be hoping the discussions in Prampram translate into practical measures capable of driving the game forward and enhancing its long-term sustainability.
