Ghana’s national Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) team captain, Daniel Wadieh, is in Angola to represent the country at the 2026 All Africa Mixed Martial Arts Championship organized by the International Mixed Martial Arts Federation (IMMAF).
Wadieh, who competes under the banner of the Ghana Mixed Martial Arts Federation (GHAMMAF), heads into the championship with high expectations, backed by confidence from the federation’s leadership.

President of GHAMMAF, Collins Zoiku, expressed strong belief in the athlete’s chances, stating that Wadieh is well-prepared and poised to secure a medal for Ghana. He noted that the captain has undergone rigorous training and is ready to raise the nation’s flag high on the continental stage.

Based in the Netherlands, Wadieh has previously represented Ghana in several international competitions, delivering commendable performances that have strengthened his reputation as one of the country’s top MMA athletes.
He is coached by Frans Djimtche, with support from assistant coach Emirhan Bulduk, both of whom are based in the Netherlands and have played key roles in his development.

Zoiku also used the opportunity to call for increased support for Mixed Martial Arts in Ghana, urging stakeholders to invest in the sport just as they do in football and athletics. According to him, MMA holds significant potential for growth and has already attracted a growing fan base.

He further highlighted the availability of several Ghanaian MMA athletes based in Europe and the United States who could be integrated into the national team to strengthen its competitiveness.
