Black Stars, remain focused on their preparations in Vienna despite a robbery incident at their team hotel ahead of Friday’s international friendly against Austria, a report by sporty fm
The team, led by head coach Otto Addo, opened camp on Sunday, with training sessions commencing on Monday as part of their build-up to upcoming international assignments.
However, preparations were disrupted on Wednesday following the team’s third training session, when two players reported the theft of their Rolex watches, estimated to be worth $20,000.
The situation escalated the next day after a member of the technical team discovered that $2,250 in cash had also gone missing.
Team officials promptly alerted local authorities to investigate the incident. Efforts to review surveillance footage were unsuccessful after hotel management indicated that the security cameras at the facility were not functioning at the time of the alleged theft.
Despite the setback, the Black Stars are maintaining their focus ahead of their scheduled clash with Austria at the Ernst Happel Stadion, with kick-off set for 5:00pm
Following the encounter, Ghana will travel to Stuttgart for a second high-profile friendly against the Germany national football team on Monday, March 30.
Both fixtures form a critical part of Ghana’s preparations for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, which will be hosted across the United States, Canada, and Mexico.
