Rosenior Insists Chelsea Will Keep Fighting For Champions League Place

Chelsea head coach Liam Rosenior has admitted that the club has made their push for UEFA Champions League qualification increasingly difficult with recent results but insists the team will continue to fight with the season nearing its conclusion.

The Blues have endured a sharp dip in form in recent weeks, leaving their top five ambitions under serious threat in the Premier League.

Chelsea are currently sixth in the standings, seven points behind Liverpool FC, who occupy the final Champions League qualification spot.

Speaking ahead of their midweek clash with Brighton & Hove Albion, Rosenior acknowledged the scale of the challenge facing his side following a run of poor results and accepted that they have made things complicated for themselves.

We’ve made it very difficult for ourselves but we will keep fighting.

Chelsea are without a win in their last four league matches and have failed to score during that period.

The run includes defeats to Newcastle United, Everton, Manchester City and Manchester United, results that have significantly dented their hopes of returning to Europe’s elite competition.

Across all competitions, Chelsea have lost six of their last seven matches, managing just one victory in that sequence. The downturn in form has seen them lose ground on their rivals at a critical stage of the campaign.

Despite the setbacks, Rosenior reiterated the expectations attached to managing Chelsea, emphasizing that results remain the defining measure at the club.

“We have to win, that’s what this club demands and rightfully so. It’s what the fans expect. Now it’s time to deliver. This is the fundamental and what this club demands. The most important statistic is the result.”

Chelsea’s struggles in front of goal have been a major concern, with the team unable to convert chances during their recent run.

The lack of attacking output has compounded defensive issues, leaving them with little room for recovery as the season enters its final stretch.

Attention now turns to their upcoming fixture at the Amex Stadium, where Chelsea have found results difficult to come by in recent seasons. The Blues have lost three of their last four away matches against Brighton, including consecutive defeats in the league and FA Cup last season.

Their last victory at the venue came in 2024, when goals from Cole Palmer and Christopher Nkunku secured a 2-1 win.

With only five matches remaining, Chelsea face increasing pressure to reverse their form quickly if they are to remain in contention for Champions League qualification.

The encounter against Brighton presents an opportunity to close the gap, but also carries the risk of further setbacks should their struggles continue.
