Black Stars head coach Carlos Queiroz was officially unveiled today at the Alisa Hotel following his appointment.

Earlier in the day, he held a meeting with officials of the Ghana Football Association and the Sports Minister at the Ministry of Youth and Sports, marking his first round of engagements ahead of the ceremony.

During the press conference, Queiroz outlined his football philosophy, emphasizing discipline, unity, and a clear selection criteria aimed at building a competitive and cohesive Black Stars squad.

At his official unveiling as the head coach of the Black Stars, Carlos Queiroz spoke with authority and determination. The experienced Portuguese tactician, who has accumulated four decades of knowledge and experience at the highest level of football, did not shy away from the magnitude of the task ahead.

This is the biggest challenge of my entire career,” Queiroz admitted, “and I am ready for that. I will bring you 40 years of my knowledge and experience.”

Yet, for all his pedigree, Queiroz struck a  tone regarding the expectations of Ghanaians.

My job is very easy, because we have 33 million coaches. With that, my decisions for success won’t be difficult.”

The core of his message, however, revolved around unity and collective strength.

If we play as a team, as one Ghana, we can beat any opponent in this world,” he declared. That sentiment was emphasized  in his philosophy

If we have the ball, we have to attack. If we don’t have the ball, we have to fight together as a team to win.”

No matter what happens on the field, the players must be ready to fight, whether it’s the first minute or last minute. That is the mentality I expect from my players.” Carlos Said

On squad selection, he stressed  fair criteria.

The criteria for selection into the Black Stars must be very well determined, taking into consideration the performance, the experience, knowledge and character of the players, because to play for the national team is completely different from playing for your club.” He added, “Nobody owns a national team place. The players dream to represent the national team and it is our job to give them a fair and right opportunity.”

Despite his reputation as a defensive mastermind, Queiroz rejected such labels in modern football.

In modern football, there are no defensive or attacking coaches. The minimum that the Ghana national team expects from me is to win. I’m a winning coach.”

Looking ahead to the World Cup, he expressed confidence without arrogance.

Ghana has the talent. I am confident that we can assemble a good team, a great team for the World Cup.” Our responsibility is to be well‑prepared, to approach the tournament with confidence, and to believe in ourselves. If we do that, we can go to the World Cup and deliver a strong performance.”
