Bryant University in Rhode Island has been formally designated as the official pre-tournament and training base for the Black Stars ahead of their participation in the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
The Ghana Football Association (GFA) confirmed the arrangement following a comprehensive inspection by FIFA officials, who determined that the university’s facilities satisfy all applicable international standards for elite athletic preparation.

High-Level Delegation Visits Accra
Delegation from Bryant University travelled to Ghana’s capital, Accra, for a formal engagement with the Sports Sector Minister, Hon. Kofi Iddie Adams. The visit was convened to brief the Ministry on the state of preparations and to outline the full scope of what the university is positioned to offer Ghana’s squad.

During the ministerial meeting, the delegation presented a detailed overview of Bryant University’s infrastructure, placing particular emphasis on its expansive field house and a purpose-built wellness centre both of which are engineered to support performance demands at the highest level of professional sport.

The facilities have been assessed as well-suited to the conditioning and recovery requirements of an international football squad competing at a global tournament.
Strategic Location a Key Factor
Beyond the quality of its facilities, Bryant University’s geographical positioning was cited as a critical element in its selection as the Black Stars’ preferred base. Situated in Rhode Island and within close proximity to Boston, the university offers the national team efficient logistical access to major transport links, medical infrastructure, and support services throughout the duration of their World Cup campaign.

Ghana’s preparation at Bryant University will be geared directly toward the tactical and physical challenges each of these fixtures will present.

Academic and Scholarship Initiatives Proposed
The discussions in Accra extended beyond the immediate requirements of the tournament. Representatives from Bryant University also raised the possibility of formalising exchange programmes and scholarship opportunities for young Ghanaian athletes, an initiative that would create structured academic and sporting pathways for talented individuals seeking higher education and elite athletic development in the United States.

While these programmes remain at the proposal stage, they signal an aspiration for a relationship that outlasts the duration of the 2026 World Cup.
The vision is one of sustained bilateral investment. Ghana providing athletic talent and ambition, and Bryant University offering world-class facilities, academic resources, and an environment shaped for excellence.
