Ghana’s roller sports community has recorded a major international breakthrough as two of its athletes delivered outstanding performances at the inaugural International Challenge Cotonou Skating (I2CS) competition in Benin.

Representing Ghana, Dosseh Aziado and Moses Sewornu, both from the Volta Region, secured gold and silver medals respectively in the highly competitive Master Men Marathon event.

Their remarkable achievement marks an achievement for the country’s growing presence in roller sports on the African Continent.

The competition, held in Cotonou, brought together top talents from across the region, but the Ghanaian duo stood out with exceptional skill and endurance.
Their success affirms the steady rise of Ghana’s athletic depth in roller sports and reflects the impact of ongoing efforts to develop and support athletes at the grassroots and elite levels.

President of Ghana Skate, Johnson Kwaku Gameli Kportufe, commended the organisers and the Benin Federation for hosting a well-coordinated and professional event. He also acknowledged the contribution of Team Benin’s Head Coach, Sera Kim, whose role in athlete preparation and performance standards was described as instrumental.

The success at I2CS not only highlights Ghana’s competitiveness but also reinforces the importance of international collaboration in creating high-level opportunities for athletes worldwide.

Looking ahead, Ghana Skate has confirmed that preparations are already underway for the next edition of the competition. The federation aims to build on this strong debut by expanding Ghana’s footprint on the international skating scene and nurturing more talents capable of excelling on the world stage.
