Liverpool Appoint Andoni Iraola as New Head Coach
Liverpool have announced the appointment of Andoni Iraola as the club’s new head coach following the departure of Arne Slot.
The Spaniard arrives at Anfield after leaving AFC Bournemouth, where he enjoyed a successful three-year spell and guided the club to a historic sixth-place finish and qualification for European football for the first time.
Confirming the appointment, Liverpool stated: “Liverpool FC can confirm Andoni Iraola has agreed a deal to become the club’s new head coach ahead of the 2026-27 season.”
Iraola expressed his excitement about taking charge of one of football’s biggest clubs.
“I am Really excited. Liverpool is a massive club, one of the biggest in the world. The supporters, the atmosphere, the players and the opportunity to compete for titles make this a very special challenge.”
The 43-year-old built his coaching reputation with spells at AEK Larnaca, Mirandés and Rayo Vallecano before moving to Bournemouth in 2023.
His impressive work on the south coast attracted interest from several clubs, but Liverpool ultimately secured his signature.
Iraola now begins preparations for the new season as he looks to lead the Reds back into contention for major domestic and European honours.
