The President of the Ghana Olympic Committee (GOC) and Commonwealth Sports Ghana (CSG), Mr. Richard Akpokavie Esq.,met with the Commonwealth Secretary-General, Her Excellency the Honourable Shirley Ayorkor Botchwey.

The high-level discussions centered on strategic collaboration ahead of the 2026 Commonwealth Games, scheduled to be held in Victoria, Australia from 17 to 29 March 2026.

The meeting underscored a joint commitment to fostering a strong partnership to ensure Ghana’s successful and competitive participation.

Both leaders reaffirmed a shared dedication to advancing inclusive sports policies and programs that empower women and girls across all levels of athletics.

Also in attendance were key officials from Team Ghana’s delegation, Mr. Muniru Kassim Mohammed, Secretary General of the GOC, and Mr. Ernest Danso, the appointed Chef de Mission for the 2026 Commonwealth Games.

Ghana’s team will be aiming to build upon its performance at the 2022 Birmingham Games, where the country earned five medals: two silver and three bronze, finishing 31st on the medal table.
