The Ghana Cycling Federation (GCF) has announced an opportunity for Ghanaian cycling clubs, extending a formal invitation for clubs to express interest in participating in three of West Africa’s most prestigious international stage races, the Tour du Bénin, the Tour du Togo, and the Tour du Faso.

The initiative affirms the Federation’s commitment to elevating the profile of Ghanaian cycling on the African stage, providing clubs with the platform to test their competitive mettle and showcase the depth of development taking place within the national cycling fraternity.
In a communiqué issued to affiliated clubs, the GCF has outlined a clear coordination framework to ensure Ghana’s participation in these tours is structured, credible, and properly administered. Clubs wishing to enter must formally submit their applications to the Federation, which will serve as the primary liaison with the respective national federations of Bénin, Togo, and Burkina Faso.

Beyond club-level participation, the Federation has also issued specific guidance for individual cyclists. Any rider intending to compete for a team in any of the three tours must, as a prerequisite, obtain written permission from their registered club and ensure that the GCF is formally copied in such correspondence.
This measure is designed to uphold proper administrative channels and safeguard the interests of both clubs and athletes.

The Tour du Bénin, Tour du Togo, and Tour du Faso are multi-stage road cycling events that attract teams from across the African continent, offering Ghanaian cyclists rare and valuable exposure to high-level international competition.
Participation in such events has served as a critical springboard for the development of riders and the broader growth of the sport within the region.
The GCF encourages all eligible clubs to treat this information with the urgency it deserves and to initiate the formal submission process at the earliest opportunity.
The Federation remains committed to facilitating smooth and effective representation for all participating entities.
