Kojo Barnni lived up to his top billing by clinching the 2025 Goldfields Damang Open Golf Tournament. The Tarkwa-based golfer seized the lead on the second day and never looked back, navigating a course many competitors found challenging.
Despite admitting the Damang course is both “tricky and tough,” Barnni leveraged his familiarity with the layout securing his fourth career tournament victory at Damang.
For his winning performance, Barnni was awarded the top prize of GHC60,000.

In the professional men’s category:
1st Place: Kojo Barnni – GHC60,000
2nd Place: Lucky Ayisah – GHC35,000
3rd Place (Tie): Maxwell Owusu Bonsu & Vincent Cofie – GHC34,000 (shared)
The seniors’ category was won by veteran Emos Koblah, who took home GHC30,000 . He was followed by E. K. Osei (GHC20,000 ) and Anthony Gbenyo (GHC12,000).

A keenly contested professional ladies’ segment saw Senegal’s Oumy Diaye emerge victorious. South Africa’s M. Zethu placed second, with Ivorian Vivian Kouame in third. They received cash prizes of GHC25,000, GHC17,000 and GHC13,000 respectively.

Alhaji Ahmed Padori, Vice President of the PGA Ghana, extended gratitude to all contributors, including course managers, caterers, and the media. He also highlighted future initiatives, stating, “Plans are advanced to take golf to the schools and encourage more girls to play.”

Mr. Hans De Beer, President of the PGA, commended the sponsors, Goldfields Ghana and Engineers and Planners, for their crucial support. He encouraged golfers to continue competing, stating, “You need more tournaments to improve and reach the world another Tiger Woods could be produced.”
Mr. De Beer also reaffirmed the PGA’s vision to organize more open invitational tournaments and acknowledged the association’s 50-year history in Ghana, announcing that the Genser tournament and Annual General Meeting will be held soon in Kumasi.
Lady Captain Felicity Geabour used the platform to appeal for greater support for female golfers to help develop the women’s game.

The tournament concluded with remarks from Mr. Sampson Arthur, Operations Manager of Goldfields, who congratulated all players and winners and expressed his delight at the event’s success.

Adding a glimpse into the sport’s future, pupils from Abosso Methodist JHS were in attendance to gain firsthand insight into the game of golf.
